November 19th, Dr. Felicity Breet, Associate Director of the School of Education at the University of Sunderland and Gina Wang, Deputy Director of Admissions of Sunderland University representative in China came to visit HNIT.

Vice-President Cui Xiaoli greeted and welcomed the visit of Dr. Breet. Vice-President Cui extended a warm welcome on behalf of all the teachers and students at HNIT to Dr. Breet. The director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office and the dean from School of Foreign Language Studies also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, a mutual agreement on the program of English teachers’ training had been deeply discussed and well communicated. Dr. Breet and Vice-President Cui expressed full confidence on cooperation and exchange between two universities. HNIT will select approximately 20 English teachers to undergo continuous training at the University of Sunderland for a month in the English education program in 2015, as long as the project is approved by education department. It is expected that the first cohort would enroll for this program next summer vacation.

After meeting, Dr. Breet delivered a speech on the topic of teaching English and discussed her research interest of English as a global language with our students and teaching staff from School of Foreign Language studies.
