On December 18, Hunan Institute of Technology held its 50th Anniversary High-Quality Development Conference. Provincial and municipal leaders, guests from various sectors, and alumni from home and abroad gathered to celebrate the 50-year milestone and discuss future development plans.
Xu Yunzhao, former Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and former Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, stated that through fifty years of hard work and forge-ahead spirit, Hunan Institute of Technology has achieved three historical milestones: the consolidation of three schools into one institute, the transition from a joint operation by local government and industry to an institution run by the provincial government, and the elevation from a junior college level to an undergraduate level and even postgraduate education. This fully demonstrates the valuable spirit of keeping the big picture in mind, pioneering innovation, and united struggle.
Zhu Zhenghua, Member of the CPC Hunan Provincial Education Work Committee and Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, acknowledged the university's developmental achievements. He stated that the university must always stay true to its founding mission of educating talents for the Party and the country, adhere to its orientation as an application-oriented institution, and continue to excel in fostering virtue through education, connotation development, and social service to strive for greater accomplishments.
Chen Peng, Deputy Party Secretary of the Hengyang Municipal CPC Committee, extended congratulations to all faculty, staff, students, and alumni on behalf of the Municipal CPC Committee and Municipal Government. He noted that rooted in Hengyang, Hunan Institute of Technology has become an important force in talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, and social service. Hengyang City will continue to fully support the university's construction and development, deepen university-local cooperation, and work hand in hand to contribute to the realization of the "Three Highs and Four News" blueprint.
Cao Zhiling, Party Secretary of HNIT, reviewed the university's development journey from starting from scratch to merging and upgrading into an undergraduate institution through unremitting self-reliance. He stated that standing at a new starting point, the university will adhere to fostering virtue through education to nurture a new generation of the era with "HNIT characteristics"; deepen comprehensive reform to build a governance system that highlights application features; and expand openness and synergy to create a demonstration benchmark that empowers regional development.
Wu Yiqiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Party Secretary of Central South University of Forestry and Technology, delivered a speech as a guest representative. He expressed hope that the university would remain dedicated to its educational mission, bravely scale the heights of science and technology, deepen open cooperation, and make new contributions in the new era.
The conference was chaired by Prof. Zeng Guangsheng, Deputy Party Secretary and President of HNIT. Nie Quan, an alumnus of the class of 1984 and Chairman and General Manager of Shenzhen Lynde Automatic Equipment Co., Ltd., expressed his deep affection for his alma mater as an alumni representative. Grigor Vasilyevich Ledukhovksy, Rector of Ivanovo State Power Engineering University, an overseas partner institution, sent his blessings via video message.
Heads of relevant provincial and municipal departments, related universities, and partner units, as well as Hengyang municipal leaders Li Qiang, Xie Mingfang, and Xie Hong, attended the conference.
