Young PhD researchers in the field of mechanical engineering doctors have recently integrated the education campaign on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era with coordinated research efforts, turning what they have learned into problem-solving approaches and drivers of scientific progress. Their findings have been published in prestigious international journals, including Journal of Materials Research and Technology and Corrosion Science. Journal of Materials Research and Technology, a renowned journal in the field of material design and preparation, is a CAS Q1 Top Journal with an impact factor of 6.267. As one of the most influential journals in material corrosion and protection, Corrosion Science is also a CAS Q1 Top Journal with an impact factor of 7.720.
The successive publication of high-level research achievements by the Mechanical Engineering discipline in top international academic journals stems from the University’s adherence to the Xi Jinping’s important remarks on talent work for the new era. The University attaches great importance to talent recruitment, attracting a number of outstanding young scholars to join the faculty and infusing new vitality into both discipline development and scientific research. This success is also attributed to the discipline's strong emphasis on cultivating young talents, which has provided fertile ground for their growth. First, increased funding efforts have been made, with nearly ten million yuan invested in recent years for the procurement of research instruments and equipment, enabling the discipline to establish provincial first-class research conditions in key research fields. Second, research teams have been established. In response to the needs of the automotive parts industry, four science and technology innovation teams have been formed. All young PhDs are required to join research teams to accelerate their professional role transition. Third, academic exchanges have been strengthened. The "Dingxin Advanced Manufacturing Forum" is held regularly to broaden academic horizons, and faculty members are encouraged to "go global" and enhance the university’s international academic reputation. Fourth, applied research has been promoted. Initiatives such as the "PhD into Enterprises" have been carried out to gain in-depth understanding of the technical needs of industries and enterprises. Through joint research projects, industry-university collaborative grants, and other mechanisms, the discipline has continuously improved its capacity of application-oriented research.
